Spending two days in Bhopal

Bhopal is a rather small city, but do not go by its size since there are a lot of things to see and explore both within as well as in the surrounding areas of the city.

A two-day tour is Bhopal might actually not be enough to explore all the things that the city has to offer, but you will certainly be able to check out two of the star attractions of this place. Both these places are located in the outskirts of Bhopal, and hence, you would need a vehicle for travelling, ideally a personal one. If not, you can always hire a taxi! There are many 3 star hotels in bhopal, and hence, accommodation will not be a problem here. Just make sure that you make your reservations well in time when visiting during the peak season.

Here’s a two-day plan, which will help you in checking out the best that this city has to offer:

Day 1:

How you will plan your first day in the city, depends a lot on what time you will be reaching there. It is best if you reach here early in the morning by 6 or 7. Make sure that you have a vehicle in hand or booked previously. And you can then directly head out to Sanchi, which is around 45 km away from the city. Recognized as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, you will find the Sanchi Stupa here which was built by Ashoka. It is considered to be an extremely holy place for Buddhists who even come to pray here.

There is an archaeological museum nearby, which has some really cool artefacts that you must definitely check out. After visiting the Sanchi Stupa, head back towards the city in the afternoon and check in at one of the three star hotels in bhopal that you have made reservations at. Then head out for the Upper Lake Area. The Lower Lake is also nearby and hence you can visit that too. The Gohar Mahal is located very close to the Upper Lake. And hence, you can also squeeze in a visit to this palace. Turn in early since you will be tired and the next day will involve travelling a lot too!

Day 2:

The next morning head out to the Bhimbetka Caves which is again 40km away from the city. This is also a World Heritage Site since these caves show paintings by man, some of which date back to the prehistoric time. After you have finished exploring the caves here, head back to the city. On the way back, you will come across the Bhojeshwar Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. The construction lies incomplete, and this magnificent structure had been started to build during the 11the century. You can also witness the largest Shivlingamin India, over here. After you come back to the city, you can either head out to the Chowk Area for some shopping or you can visit the ManavSanghralay.
